Share one study room without double bookings
Explain a simple booking process, try it with examples and improve one weak spot.
The question
A small learning club shares one study room. Create a simple way for members to request a time, learn whether it is theirs and cancel it. You can use ordinary sentences, a list, a table or a sketch. No coding or technical vocabulary is needed; make the steps clear enough for a new volunteer to follow.
- The room has six one-hour slots each day. A slot can belong to only one person at a time.
- Members ask at the desk or send a message. One volunteer keeps the current booking record.
- Two people sometimes request the same slot, and a cancelled slot could help someone waiting.
What to cover
Say who uses the process and what a successful booking means.
Describe requesting, checking, recording, confirming and cancelling a slot; name who does each step.
Walk through two requests for the same slot, then a cancellation with someone waiting.
Name a weakness in your process and one practical way to check or improve it.
How your practice is reviewed
- Clear goal and roles (20 points): Identifies the member’s goal and the volunteer’s responsibility in ordinary language.
- Workable booking steps (35 points): The steps preserve one confirmed booking per slot and communicate a clear outcome.
- Reasoning through examples (30 points): Competing requests and a cancellation lead to understandable, consistent outcomes.
- Reflection and improvement (15 points): Identifies a concrete weak spot and a useful check or improvement without unnecessary complexity.
